Abstract

Air pollution is one of the important issues in recent years. There are variety of methods for removal
of pollutants from the air. One of the newest methods is photocatalytic oxidation. Pollutants
are converted to carbon dioxide and oxygen by this method. In this research, nano titanium
dioxide was applied on water born acrylic paint, and the effects of UV and visible-light sources
were studied. The experiments were done in a 43 liter glass chamber. The effective parameters
are light sources. The visible light in 16000 Lux and 17500 Lux and the UV light sources. Gas
Chromatography and Mass Spectroscopy analyses is done to evaluate the decrease of benzene
as the pollutant. ATR analyses is done to evaluate the changing of the free filmstability. The
results showed that the integral of the diagram for UV sample, visible sample(16000 , 17500
Lux) and the blank sample respectively are 9.74, 29.14 and 39.17 and 27.44. As a result,32% of
unreacted monomer convert to polymer.
