Abstract

In this paper, Forsterite nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method. For this purpose, the tetra ethyl ortosilicate was used as a precursor for first time to provide Silisium element. The synthesized sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The samples were calcinated at 800°C. the results showed that the synthesized samples containing trace amounts of preiclase phase (MgO) which its particle size is much larger than the forstrite one. Samples presented white luminescence after exposing to UV radiation. The photoluminescence results indicated that there are two dominants 4F9/2-6H13/2(yellow emission) and 4F9/2-6H15/2 (blue emission) transition in the PL spectra by exciting the particles with 350 nm wavelength. It has also been stated that the concentration quenching of Dy3+ dopant was obtained 0.5% mol.
