Abstract
Calix[4]pyrrole was synthesized from reaction of pyrrole with acetone in the presence of ethanol and p-toluene-sulfonic acid. The electrophilic formylation reaction on the calix ring using Vilsmeier reagent was performed. The product was reacted with ketoaziridine in the presence of ammonium acetate under solvent free condition. In this respect, the target photochromic compound was synthesized and its photochromic behavior was investigated. Results showed that the synthesized compound had good photochromic property in solution and in solid state.
